I suppose it makes sense to start this story with our winding things down in Kansas City. We sold our house at Lake Quivira in the Spring of 2009 and sold or gave away all of our furnishings and larger items.
We have spent the last twelve months living in a rented fully furnished condo in the River Market and finding homes for the rest of our belongings and getting a feel for urban living after twenty-one years at the lake.
I have felt that the entire last year has been one long going away party but things really started ratcheting up about a month ago. Toni and I made last minute plans to see Bob Walkenhorst (formerly of the Rainmakers) and Jeff Porter play at RecordBar. They play there nearly every Wednesday evening and this is something we would do from time to time with various friends and family or like this night, just the two of us.
What followed really caught us off guard especially since we arrived a bit after they started playing and didn't even think we had been noticed sitting at the back of the room.
Hit the play button below to hear the streaming audio of a short segment from the show.
Needless to say we were quite touched. Thanks Bob.
